I think that whether you ‘click’ with RoboCat or not will depend purely on your personal preferences. Granted, you could say the same about any other sportsbook, but remember that this one has an identity, a personality, a vision – and a very specific way of doing things instead of trying to be a jack of all trades. If you primarily like big league matches from major sports (like football or basketball), AND if you’re mostly interested in live betting, you’ll have a good time here. But if your interest lies primarily in smaller sports, or even something like esports, I’d advise you to search elsewhere.

RoboCat Sports Review

RoboCat sports betting reviewIf RoboCop was the future of law enforcement, perhaps RoboCat was intended to be the future of online gambling? Frankly, it’s a perplexing choice for the site’s theme and mascot, but admittedly not one without charm: in fact, we’d argue that the titular RoboCat, as well as the overall aesthetic of the bookmaker, are one of its strongest assets. It gives it a whole lot of charm that makes it easily stand out among a sea of generic sportsbooks that don’t do anything to distinguish themselves from each other.

And although the little four-legged robot might be enough to get you through the door, the only thing that can make you stay here at RoboCat is its betting section! And although it isn’t quite on the level of some of its more generic-looking competitors, there’s still enough here to provide most punters with entertainment – doubly so if they’re new to betting, or specifically interested in a big sport like football or basketball. Smaller sports like cricket, golf and chess have a presence too, but it’s fairly minimal compared to the big, popular ones – and you also won’t be able to wager on more niche things like politics.

Football Betting

Although RoboCat doesn’t display the number of matches it has available for each match, it’s still beyond obvious that football is the most popular offering here – and that punters will have access to dozens of different matches for it across a large assortment of tournaments! Unlike most betting sites, which will try to put as many matches as possible, RoboCat focuses almost exclusively on the big leagues: UEFA Champion’s League, Premier League, etc.

Another interesting quirk of the site (not just in terms of football betting, but in general) is that it relies primarily on live bets and very short-term upcoming bets, up to a day or two in advance. We’ll talk about this a little more in our Live Betting section just below, but for now, suffice to say that this heavily limits the number of wagers that will be available to you. For some players, being able to bet on less than 100 matches when most other bookies offer between 1,000 and 1,500 will be a huge turn-off, but for others, it can certainly be seen as RoboCat trimming the fat and only focusing on the games most players care about.

Tennis Betting

With RoboCat not making it clear just how many matches are being offered for each betting option, we were able to determine that tennis has the second biggest presence here in terms of matches – after football, of course. Admittedly though, that presence is still not very big, as – like football – RoboCat has exclusively focused on the big, international leagues. If you’re interested in the WTA, ITF, or ATP, then great, most matches from those tourneys will be available for wager here. If you were instead hoping to bet on smaller games, well, too bad.

The silver lining from this lack of variety in matches is an increased focus on betting markets. Nearly every tennis match available here will have markets for handicaps, totals, sets, and a few main ones (1×2, games spread, etc). This means that even with fewer matches, you can still create a pretty diverse betslip with plenty of different wagers tied to it. Granted, some games will have a lot more markets than others, but it’s still great to see RoboCat placing this emphasis when most other bookies wouldn’t bother doing so for anything except the most high-profile matches.

Esports Betting

Although RoboCat also features an esports section (two of them, even – more on that in a bit), this clearly wasn’t a focus of the site whatsoever, which is strange. Esports are hugely popular on the online betting scene at the moment, to the point where we’ve reviewed sites entirely dedicated to placing bets on games like Overwatch and Rocket League. As such, we struggle to understand why these important betting options are barely, if at all, present here.

As mentioned, you’ll find two distinct esports categories here called “Esports FPS” and “Esports MOBA”. The former primarily includes Counter-Strike leagues (alongside some Crossfire matches for flavor), and the latter, a few games for Dota 2 and League Of Legends. In total, both sections together contain between 40 and 60 matches depending on when you’re looking at them, which is how many would be present just for Dota 2 at other casinos. Any games we haven’t mentioned are absent entirely, which means that if you’re a big fan of esports, this won’t be the site for you.

Live Betting

Early in our review, we mentioned how RoboCat has placed a strong emphasis on live games – in fact, it’s pretty tough to even find most upcoming games, and impossible to place bets on anything on them if the’re more than 2 days away. It’s very obvious that live betting is the big focus of the site, its unique selling point – why else would it be the default category in the sports betting section, to the point where it’s a struggle to even find upcoming matches? But if so, then that makes their implementation here quite perplexing.

That’s not to say that live betting at RoboCat is bad – but it’s not particularly good or interesting, either. It’s missing important features that can be found at many other betting sites (for example, live play-by-play in football matches), and the odds and betting markets aren’t that interesting, either. It’s a thoroughly unremarkable feature, which begs the question of why it’s been treated with such importance in placement, to the point where the interface could even mislead some players into thinking that live matches are all that’s available. Why were RoboCat’s creators so proud by such a mediocre feature?

Frequently Asked Questions

RoboCat has emphasized quality over quantity, and has about 20 different sports available – around half as many as at most of its competitors.

No, as far as we can tell, virtuals aren’t currently available at RoboCat – though that might change in the future, as it’s still a very new site.

This will depend entirely on the sport you’re betting on, and to a considerable extent, on how major the match is. Football has a ton of betting markets, over a dozen different categories per match, and each one with multiple different markets such as Both Team to Score, Draw, Spreads, Asian Handicap, etc. On the other hand, something like tennis would have fewer betting markets with only 3-4 categories, including Totals and sets.

Indeed – although the bookmaker only supports a small handful of crypto currencies, you can still use them for both deposits and withdrawals.

As far as we can tell, yes, RoboCat looks like a safe bookie. However, it’s worth noting that the site is very new, and there hasn’t been a lot of user feedback about it yet. If something about it makes you feel uncomfortable, then it’s best to move on and find a site that seems more reliable and trustworthy to you.
