LyraBet Sports Review
LyraBet seeks to make an impression right from the get-go. It has a catchy name which makes it no secret that this is supposed to be a betting site as opposed to a casino or hybrid. On top of that, it opens with huge banners advertising bonuses before the average player could even take a glance at the betting section. A newbie could easily be wooed into thinking that this is some kind of amazing place that’s about to make their wildest gambling dreams come true.
Unfortunately, the more you peek under the surface, the more the cracks start to show. Although LyraBet offers a ton of sports, the vast majority barely have any matches, and even the popular games (like football) have fewer games than you’d find at competitors. As for bonuses, the lack of a welcome offer for sports players, and a general low quality of promotions across the board, will certainly alienate quite a lot of players. Although the site isn’t a scam, nor is it overall terrible, we don’t imagine it’ll win over a ton of players.
Football Betting
Is there a country in the world where football isn’t unbelievably popular? Even in the US, a land ruled by baseball and American football, you’ll find plenty of football (or rather, ‘soccer’) fans, which is wild to think about. LyraBet seems intent on capitalizing on this trend with a huge number of matches, ranging between 700 and 1,000 depending on seasons and currently playing leagues. All in all, the number is a little lower than what you’d find at most other bookies (and sometimes a lot lower when it falls down to the 700 range), but it’s not the worst we’ve seen.
As you might expect, the focus isn’t just on the big leagues like UEFA and Bundesliga, but also on much smaller championships from around the world. You can place bets on matches from leagues from over 60 different countries around the world, alongside bigger competitions like the Africa Cup of Nations and the Copa Libertadores. Overall, whether you’re a betting fan looking to make the perfect multi or someone who lives in a smaller nation and wants to bet on local games, you’ll probably find something here that catches your eye.
American Football Betting
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that football is always the most popular sport at any online bookie – it’s the most popular sport in general. But the silver and gold medals are always surprising: some bookmakers bet (heh) on tennis and basketball, while others on slightly more niche sports. LyraBet belongs squarely to the latter category, as its #2 most populated sport is American football, and its #3 is greyhound racing. Very unexpected, sure – but also extremely welcome.
Fans of American football would especially find this site fascinating, as you’ll typically encounter between 400 and 600 different matches at any given point. Unsurprisingly, most of them come from the US: specifically, from the NFL and its affiliated events (like the Draft). But there’s no shortage of matches from Canada (CFL) and even Europe (ELF). Those aren’t found just anywhere, and although there aren’t many players who’d be excited to bet on the European League of Football, those few of you who are might want to consider LyraBet.
Esports Betting
To be honest, the esports betting is one of the best sections of LyraBet, and one of the main things that drew us to the site. Much like with the sportsbook in general, its strength lies in the wide diversity of different betting options: you can wager not only on the huge games like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike, but also on other esports like Overwatch, Call of Duty, Rainbow Siege, and StarCraft. Hell, we even found some downright obscure options like Age of Empires, which is really cool!

What’s even cooler is that (at least when it comes to the bigger games) you’ll be able to wager on plenty of different betting markets. For Counter-Strike you can bet on individual map score; for Dota 2 on map kills; for Rainbow Six on overtime, and so on. Granted, these betting markets will be extremely limited, and practically non-existent for the vast majority of esports. But the fact that they’re here at all (when most bookmakers skip them even for big esports like CS) is proof that at least some care was put into this section. And that’s worth acknowledging.
Live Betting
Last, but certainly not least, we must address live betting – one of the most important aspects of any bookmaker. LyraBet clearly recognizes that importance, as it has positioned its live section not as a toggle in the main sportsbook (like most sites do), but as its own, entirely separate section. Okay, a little excessive, but if it it works it works, right? Well, that’s the tricky part. It doesn’t work, at least, not in the way you’d expect. The live section doesn’t seem to function as intended.
In most cases, when you toggle from “all sports” to “live sports”, the bookmaker’s interface will automatically filter out any matches except for ones that are currently being played. And at first, it seems like that’s exactly how it works here too… but not quite. We still were able to find plenty of non-live games even in the live section, and some of the games labeled as “live” seemed to be upcoming as opposed to currently in progress. Was it a bug? Poor design? The world may never find out.
Frequently Asked Questions
You can wager on over 40 different sports here, including some rather niche ones – Gaelic hurling, Basketball 3×3, Lacrosse, even special bets. However, it’s worth noting that these nicher sports (compared to, say, football or basketball) will have significantly fewer matches, usually just a handful at a time.
Yes, you can find virtuals among the main list of sports in the sportsbook.
The exact markets will depend on not only the sport you’re betting on, but also on how popular the specific match is. Bigger sports will have more niche betting markets like Asian Handicap, First to Score, and Player Stats, while smaller matches will mostly have Score and 1×2.
Yes, but the amount of crypto coins available isn’t large – just Bitcoin, Ethereum, BitcoinCash, and Litecoin.
We believe that LyraBet is a legitimate bookie, as it’s licensed by Kahnawake and generally has good reviews. With that said, it’s still possible you might experience some issues like rejected withdrawals – if so, they’ll need to be worked out with support.

Look, I don’t want to make it seem like LyraBet is some godawful site that’s thoroughly irredeemable and won’t find any fans at all. Because I think there are, in fact, some things to like here: it has a decent collection of sports (including some niche ones), it has a good esports section, and even though I wish there were more sports in the big sections (like football), it’s not like what’s here is terrible. None of these are where my problem with the site lies. Instead, it’s in the fact that it doesn’t offer anything you can’t already find in most sites. And those other sites will give you way more: more matches, more bonuses, more sports even in some cases. So, why sign up for LyraBet?
